    No capital city
    South Africa has no legally defined capital city. Cape Town, as the seat of Parliament, is the legislative capital; Pretoria, as the seat of the President and Cabinet, is the administrative capital; and Bloemfontein, as the seat of the Supreme Court of Appeal, is the judicial capital. Most foreign embassies are located in Pretoria.

    South Africa produces about 80% of the world platinum production and has most of the world's known platinum deposits. It is also the largest chromium producer in the world

    National bird of South Africa
    The blue crane is the national bird of South Africa. It is culturally significant to the Xhosa people, who call it 'indwe'. Traditionally, when a man distinguished himself in battle or otherwise, he was often decorated by a chief with blue crane feathers in a ceremory called ukundzabela.
